Russia's Sukhoi awaits US permission to enter Iran market

Wednesday, February 15
Russian aircraft manufacturer Sukhoi is pursuing the permission of the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to start cooperation with Iranian airlines, Secretary of Association of Iranian Airlines Maqsoud Asadi Samani said.

Samani said that the company has informed Iran that it has settled the technical problems of Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger aircraft and will be able to cooperate with Iranian firms once the OFAC grants its approval, the Mehr news agency reported Feb. 13.

Samani further said that Sukhoi also should receive permission from the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran (CAO) in order to sell the Superjet 100 passenger aircraft, which was introduced to Iranian airliners on Dec. 13, 2016.

Samani earlier said that Tehran is no longer interested in purchasing Superjet 100 passenger aircraft, due to technical problems with the plane’s tail.

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 is a 75-seat and 95-seat passenger plane produced since the year. It was commissioned for flight services by multiple airlines from 2008. (Trend.az)
