Public Speaking Competition

On the 29th of March English Speaking Union (ESU-Georgia) organized final round of Public Speaking Competition at British Corner. The winner will participate in the international Public Speaking Competition in London. The competition is supported by the Bank of Georgia. This year the theme of the competition was “To define is to limit”.
Members of the jury were: HE Justin McKenzie-Smith, British Ambassador, Irakli Gilauri, President of the Bank of Georgia, Chris Sclueter, British Petroleum Director and Marina Tsitsishvili, ESU-Georgia President.
The ESU-Georgia was supported by the British Embassy. One of the educational programmes in which Georgia has been involved since 1998 is the Public Speaking Competition. The ESU was set up in London in 1918 as an independent, non-political, non-governmental, educational charity and has a long tradition of cultural and educational programmes. The Patron of the ESU is Queen Elizabeth II, the President – HRH The Princess Anne. One of the ESU’s first chairmen was Sir Winston Churchill. In 1998 Georgia joined the ESU which operates in more than 64 countries.
The names of the winners are:
1st place - Tatia Kakhetelidze, with the title: “Back to my desk" She is a schoolgirl from Khashuri.
2nd place - Akaki Makatsaria, with the title: "Box"
3rd place - Irakli Chkhikvadze, with the title: "Human-a limited creature or a labyrinth"
