PM meets senior officials at World Economic Forum

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili attended the opening ceremony of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on the Middle East and North Africa 2017 in Jordan.
Along with Kvirikashvili, the key speakers included Jordan's Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, King Felipe VI of Spain, and WEF Founder Professor Klaus Schwab.
The speakers emphasized regional economic cooperation, the development of modern technology, and the importance of engaging young people and tapping into new opportunities.
The Georgian PM then met with Jordan's Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.
They discussed issues of mutual cooperation and expressed hope that the decision of the Georgian Government to abolish visas for Jordanian citizens would further deepen ties between the two countries.
It was also noted that the two states actively contribute to global security in the fight against terrorism.
At the meeting of Kvirikashvili and the King of Spain, Felipe VI, the King congratulated Georgia with its success in the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), where Georgian envoy Zurab Pololikashvili became the Secretary General and will serve his term from 2018-2021.
The Georgian PM also met with his Jordanian counterpart and Defense Minister Hani Al-Mulki on Saturday.
The sides expressed interest in boosting cooperation in various fields, including economic relations.
The Prime Ministers attended the signing ceremony of an agreement which envisages more active cooperation in tourism field between the two countries.
The Georgian Delegation also met with the Norwegian Foreign Minister, Borge Brende, within the frames of the forum.
Georgia’s progress on its European and Euro-Atlantic integration path and the implemented reforms in Georgia were the key issues of the meeting.
Georgian officials acquainted Borge Brende with the recent developments in Georgia’s occupied regions.
Georgia’s important role in the New Silk Road project was highlighted at the meeting of Claus Schwab and Giorgi Kvirikashvili. It was noted that Georgia is an important transit hub between Asia and Europe.
The World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa was held close to the Dead Sea in Jordan on 19-21 May and it gathered over 1,000 government, business and civil society leaders from more than 50 countries.
