Georgia's President visits Kazakhstan

The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, hosted Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili yesterday to discuss bilateral relations.
President Nazarbayev underscored that the visit of the President of Georgia to Kazakhstan coincides with the 25th anniversary of the establishing of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Kazakhstan.
Margvelashvili thanked his counterpart for his invitation and highlighted the “interesting and impressive rates” of Kazakhstan’s economic development.
The officials then discussed bilateral relations between the two countries.
President Margvelashvili thanked President Nazarbayev for supporting Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as the non-recognition policy of the occupied territories. As he added, Georgian people recognize and appreciate Kazakhstan's support.
They also touched upon the current regional situation and the issues of peace and security. As noted, Georgia is a state which significantly contributes to international peace.
The two presidents also spoke about the complicated situation in the occupied territories of Georgia and highlighted the intolerability of erecting barbed wires and artificial barriers.
President Margvelashvili informed his counterpart of the “systematic violations” of Georgian citizens’ rights living close to the occupation line, and the existing humanitarian problems.
The leaders of both countries reaffirmed their respect for international law and the fundamental principles of the UN, the inviolability of borders, the peaceful resolution of disputes and the sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Margvelashvili noted that Georgia actively develops political relations with Kazakhstan on the basis of the 25-years-old successful diplomatic relations, Georgia’s Presidential Administration says.
