Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey meet in Baku

Baku is hosting a meeting of Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.
Elmar Mammadyarov, Mikheil Janelidze and Mevlut Cavusoglu have discussed the issues of the regional agenda and cooperation between the three countries. The Baku Declaration and Action Plan for 2017-2019 will be signed by the parties.
”We had interesting and fruitful talks. Three countries are implementing many regional projects, and we discussed the implementation of these projects," said Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov.
Mikheil Janelidze mentioned Tbilisi’s intention to expand cooperation with Baku and Ankara both at the bilateral level and regional format.
He also noted that the three countries have successfully cooperated in the international arena and other fields, and have respected the territorial integrity and sovereignty of one another.
On Wednesday, Mikheil Janelidze met the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev and invited him to Georgia. During their meeting, the cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan for the development of strategic transport and energy transit corridor were highlighted.
Janelidze thanked Azerbaijan for their significant role and assistance during the fire in Borjomi and Abastumani.
The previous meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey was held in Tbilisi on February 19, 2016. The basis of the ministerial meeting was held within the framework of the Trabzon Declaration signed by the foreign ministers of the three countries on June 8, 2012 in Trabzon, Turkey. The foreign ministers of the three countries met to discuss regional issues twice a year.
The first ambassador of Azerbaijan was stationed in Tbilisi in June, 1918. A Georgian ambassador was dispatched to Baku in October 1918. At that time, the countries started to collaborate on a wide range of economic issues and signed several agreements.
