Eight Months Data of Wine And Alcohol Beverage Exports

In January-August 2017, 45,3 mil. bottles (0,75l) of wine have been exported to 44 countries worldwide, which is 61% higher than similar data of the last year. In the period under review, 100,3 mil. USD worth of wine have been exported, that is 55% higher than the data of the previous year.
“According to the export data of these eight months, wine exports have grown by 61% compared with the same period of the previous year. Wine realization income has grown by 55%. Georgian wine sales have grown in the countries of European Union, South-east Asia, USA and other countries, which is a result of coordinated work and well planned marketing activity of the Ministry of Agriculture, National Wine Agency and wine sector,” stated the Head of National Wine Agency, Giorgi Samanishvili.
Export growth has grown substantially in the following countries: China - 51% (5098091), Russia- - 94% (28493063), Ukraine %(4334970), Poland - 19% (1622872), Latvia - 25% (963266), Belarus - 35% (904070), USA - 67% (286496), Germany - 39% (256672), Israel - 232% (139994), France - 378% (95530), and Azerbaijan - 170% (102 342).
The top five importing countries are Russia, China, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Poland.
The leading wines and their numbers of bottles exported are as follows: "Kindzmarauli" - 7 752 470 bottles, followed by "Mukuzani" - 2 478 937, "Tsinandali" - 1 959 406, "Akhasheni" - 861 185, "Khvanchkara" - 451 034, "Tvishi" - 172 358, and "Napareuli" - 121 986.
In addition, 9 758 746 bottles (0,5 liters) of brand wines have been exported to 20 countries worldwide, which is 103% higher than the similar data of the last year. In total, 21,85 million USD worth of brand have been exported, the growth compared to the similar data of the last year is 98%.
In the period under review, 132 746 bottles (0.5 l) of Chacha spirits have been exported to 17 countries worldwide, and growth amounted to 153 %. Income of Chacha exports amounted to 367 757 USD, and the growth compared to last year is 85%.
In total, wine, brandy, Chacha, and wine materials’ income amounted to 165,34 mil. USD; growth in comparison with similar data of the previous year amounted to 52%. (National Wine Agency)
