Turkey, Russia, China – Georgia’s Top Trade Partners in 2017

(TBILISI) -- Turkey, Russia and China are Georgia’s top trade partners in 2017, according to preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
Georgia’s top 10 trade partners in January-October 2017 amounted to 66.1 percent of the country’s total trade turnover, with Turkey ($1.28 billion), Russia ($929.6 million) and China ($728 million) filling the top three spots.
Trade with the EU
Trade turnover with European Union (EU) countries increased by 4.2 percent year-on-year (y/y) and amounted to $2.32 billion, said Geostat.
Exports were worth $531.1 million (17.1 percent higher), while imports reached $1.7 billion (0.9 percent higher).
Trade with the CIS
The external trade turnover of Georgia with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) totaled $2.78 billion in January-October 2017 – 32.1 percent higher compared to the same period in 2016.
Exports were worth $911.5 million (59.6 percent higher) while imports equaled $1.87 billion (21.9 percent higher).

Georgia's top exported commodities in January-October 2017 included:
• Copper ore and concentrates (worth $352.5 million; 16 percent of total exports)
• Ferro-alloys (worth $255.1 million; 11.6 percent of total exports)
• Motor cars (worth $173.9 million; 7.9 percent of total exports)
Georgia's Main Imports
Georgia's top imported commodities are:
• Petroleum and petroleum oils (worth $555.6 million; 8.7 percent of total imports)
• Motor cars (worth $376.3 million; 5.9 percent of total imports)
• Pharmaceuticals (worth $278.5 million; 4.4 percent of total imports)
