China Samples Georgian Vintages at Leading Regional Wine Fair

(SHANGHAI) -- About 100,000 visitors were able to taste Georgian wine at the ProWine Shanghai international trade fair in Shanghai, China's largest city.
Thirty Georgian companies participated at the annual fair, which highlights new vintages and developing market trends.
A seminar focusing on Georgian was held for wine importers and media representatives, which was led by wine master Debra Meiburg.
“The interest of Chinese customers towards Georgian wine remains high...especially since the publication of scientific research proving that wine was produced in Georgia 8,000 years ago,” the head of the Georgian National Wine Agency Giorgi Samanishvili, said on the sidelines of the event.
The East Asian giant is the second largest importer of Georgian wine with 6.1 million bottles of exported to China in the first 10 months of 2017 - a 41 percent increase over the same period in 2016. (agenda.ge)
