Azerbaijan’s SOCAR Says They Have Not Been Fined for Environmental Violations in Months
Tuesday, November 28
(BAKU) – A top official from Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR announced Monday that the energy giant has not been fined for environmental violations since early this year.
While speaking at an industry conference in the Azeri capital, Baku, SOCAR’s Environment Department Chair Azer Aliyev made the claim after guaranteeing the audience that the company is in the process of a robust audit of its activities for the whole of 2017.
He said SOCAR conducts permanent environmental monitoring.
“An in-depth analysis of (this year’s) monitoring results is underway. Everything is being reviewed and, when needed, the necessary steps to resolve certain issues will be taken,” said Aliyev.
