Georgian Authorities Raise Discuss Importance of Anaklia Deep Sea Port Project with Diplomats

(TBILISI) -- Georgia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Mikheil Janelidze and the founder of Anaklia Development Consortium Mamuka Khazaradze met with several members of the diplomatic corps in Tbilisi to discuss the development of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port on the country’s Black Sea coast

“The Government of Georgia continues to work to make Georgia a real logistics hub in the region. The Anaklia Deep Sea Port project is very important in that creates new opportunities in the region,” said Janelidze.

Construction works of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port began earlier this month, with the first of nine phases scheduled to begin operation in 2021.

When fully operational, the 400 hectare, $2.5 billion site with be able to handle 100 million tonnes of cargo per year.

In addition to the port, a special economic zone will also be developed in the area.
