President awards renowned Georgian Sumo wrestler
President Giorgi Margvelashvili has awarded a renowned Georgian Sumo wrestler Tochinoshin, Levan Gorgadze, with the State Order for Honor for his merit to the homeland.
Tochinoshin is the first Georgian Sumo wrestler winning Tokyo Grand Sumo Tournament last month, becoming the first Georgian athlete to win the Emperor’s Cup.
The Emperor’s Cup is one of the most prestigious awards in Sumo.
Tochinoshin was awarded the prize for presenting and popularizing Georgia abroad.
The Ambassador of Georgia to Japan, Levan Tsintsadze, awarded Gorgadze in the name of the President of Japan.
City Hall confirms provision of kindergartens with low quality dairy products
The Tbilisi City Hall has established that the ELF Ltd, a tender-winning, contractor company, had been providing kindergartens with butter and cheese that did not comply with compulsory parameters.
The Tbilisi City Hall has stated that the ELF Ltd, which had been providing 171 kindergartens in Tbilisi between September 18 and December 22 2017, will not get the money the company must have received via the bank in case of the preterm suspension of the contract.
The City Hall stated that the money amounts to 409,000 GEL and kindergartens will receive the money instead of the LTD.
The ELF LTD was obliged to provide kindergartens with only natural butter and cheese. However, the company used the products made from milk powder and similar, non-organic substances.

Information center on NATO and EU is holding a presentation today. The third wave of informational campaign on visa-free travel will be presented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. Experts and media representatives have been invited to contribute to the discussions.
Main presenters include- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vakhtang Makharoblishvili, Deputy Minister of Justice Aleksandre Baramidze and Head of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Eka Machavariani.
The guests will be informed of the aims of the campaign, potential legislative amendments to prevent the population from violating the Schengen zone rules and ways to regulate the number of asylum seekers in the EU.
