Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has praised Georgia’s investment climate during his meeting with the Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili in Baku on March 12.
“Trade turnover between Georgia and Azerbaijan is increasing year after year and Azerbaijan is Georgia’s top investor country, which indicates that the investment climate in your country is one of the best,” Aliyev stated.
Aliyev spoke about the fields his country and Georgia have been jointly working on successfully.
“We are connected to each other with various global projects and among them is Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project that we opened festively in October. This year the South Gas Corridor, a project of TANAP, will take our cooperation to the higher level,” said Aliyev.
Kvirikashvili confirmed the positive dynamics of economic relations between the two countries.
He said that Azerbaijan is a “special strategic partner” for Georgia and Georgia has always supported Azerbaijan's position in global formats.
The official visit of Kvirikashvili to the Republic of Azerbaijan started with the meeting.
An official welcoming ceremony was held at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku, with the national anthems of Georgia and Azerbaijan performed.
Kvirikashvili was greeted by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yaqub Eyyubov.
Kvirikashvili will also be hosted by his Azerbaijani counterpart Artur Rasizade, followed by wider-format negotiations between members of the two countries' governments.
