American Corner Tbilisi is organizing an event dedicated to the Earth Day on April 22, 12 o’clock at Georgian National Youth Palace.
Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22. Events are held worldwide to raise awareness and appreciation of the natural environment.
The Earth Day was founded by United States Senator, Gaylord Nelson, first held on April 22, 1970.
On April 21-22, San Diego State University (SDSU) Georgia Students will organize a Hackathon dedicated to Earth Day, with the financial support of the US Embassy. The goal of the Earth Day Hackathon is to generate innovative ideas focused on reducing air pollution.
(Hackathon is a creative competition, where teams work and produce innovative solutions to given problems using new technology).
The award ceremony of the event will be held on April 22 at American Corner Tbilisi.
Dedicated to the International Earth Day, American Corner Tbilisi initiated the International Conference "Let's Be Green" with American Corner Cairo.
American Corner Tbilisi students evaluated the related topics and problems and discussed the ways of solution. Georgian team leader Maia Arziani presented their work connected to "Radiation Pollution. The author and organizer of the project is Tbilisi American Corner high-school student Alexsandre Nozadze.
American Corners are American-style libraries located within a local partner organization, usually a library. It is a joint partnership project that promotes cooperation and understanding between the United States and Georgia by providing accurate information about the U.S.
There are several Corners in Georgia, including in Youth Palace Tbilisi, Khashuri Central Public Library, Gori Central Library, Zugdidi Central Public Library, Kutaisi, Tserovani, Akhaltsikhe, Rustavi, Telavi and Batumi.
Access to American Corners and their collections is free and open to all interested. Each American Corner has an English language collection of American fiction and reference books on U.S. government, history, culture.
American Corners offer American speakers on a variety of topics and host a range of classes, clubs and activities. American speakers have discussed topics as diverse as American baseball, the U.S. Constitution, U.S. exchange programs, holiday traditions in the United States, and more.
American Corner (AC) in Tbilisi provides several clubs, including English for Kids, the Book Club, All about America.
