Opening of the Exhibition of Lithuanian Photographer Jonas Dovydenas

The opening of the exhibition of the Lithuanian Photographer Jonas Dovydenas: Nevada, A Journey – will take place on May 14 at Dusheti Ilia Zakaidze Culture House.
The exhibition gives an opportunity to explore vastness of America and the remnants of the world of individualists.
The event is supported by Dusheti Municipality and the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Georgia.
The opening ceremony will be attended by the Ambassador of Lithuania to Georgia Giedrius Puodziunas and the Mayor of Dusheti Municipality Zurab Sekhniashvili.
Born in Lithuania in 1939, Jonas Dovydenas was forced to flee the country with his family in 1944 to escape the Soviet occupation. After spending five years in Germany, they emigrated to the United States.
He has been a freelance photographer since 1968. Since the 1970s, Dovydenas has expanded his scope internationally.
“Jonas Dovydenas has the photographer’s eye for the laudable, hopeful and good,” says the review by Alan Artner in The Chicago Tribune.
He has held various solo exhibitions at The Chicago Cultural Center, Welles Gallery of Lenox Library, Galeria Fotografii Poland, Douglas Kenyon Gallery - Chicago, Galerija Profil Slovenia, etc.
His photographs have appeared in American Photographer, Time, Playboy, Chicago Magazine, National Geographic Adventure, Smithsonian Air & Space and Aviation Week, etc.
Diplomatic relations between Georgia and the Republic of Lithuania were established on September 16, 1994.
Georgia and Lithuania have close partnership relations in all spheres of cooperation. Approximately 20 international treaties signed between the countries that serve as the legal basis for fruitful cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, education, sports and youth affairs, agriculture, health care, etc.
Collaborative projects and regular visits are conducted. Sea ports of Poti, Batumi and Klaipeda have signed the Memorandum of Cooperation.
