Georgian Citizens’ Deportation Cases Increase

11,428 Georgians were deported from foreign states in 2015-2017. The information was released by the Non-Governmental Organization Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI).
Most cases of deportation were recorded in 2017. The deportation of Georgians was the most common from Turkey, Germany, Israel and Russia.
The NGO says that during three years, the number of deported Georgians from Turkey, Israel and Greece has decreased.
However, the cases of deportation from Germany increased 2 times. The number of cases of deportation from Russia, France, Switzerland, Italy and Belgium has also increased.
A total of 3688 Georgian citizens were deported in 2015. This number decreased to 3601 but in 2017, it increased up to 4126 deportations.

Turkey– 1868 (2015-2133, 2016-2206)
Germany – 457 (2015-174, 2016-313)
Israel – 440 (2015-489, 2016-268)
Russia – 281 (2015-135, 2016-147)
France – 167 (2015-86, 2016-80)
Sweden – 127 (2015-74, 2016-90)
Switzerland – 83 (2015-65, 2016-43)
Italy – 82 (2015 – 53, 2016-39)
Belgium – 70 (2015-34, 2016-36)
Greece – 67 (2015-102, 2016-66)
