Number of Tourists in Georgia increases by 20% in June

The National Tourism Administration of Georgia (GNTA) reports that in June 2018, the number of international travelers increased by 13.8% while the number of tourists is increased by 20% compared to the same period of 2017.
A total of 727,385 international travelers visited Georgia only in June, while in January-June 2018 Georgia hosted 3,561,961 international travelers in out of which 1,933,774 were tourists.
In the reporting period number of international visitors increased by 13.6 percent and the number of tourists increased by 22.9 percent.
The majority of foreign travelers were from the neighboring countries:
- Russia - 116.357 tourists, +27.5%
- Azerbaijan – 114, 652, +10%
- Armenia – 96,241, -5.5%
- Turkey - 90,402, +14.7%
Positive trend in arrivals was also observed from the European Union countries. A notable increase was registered from Netherlands +73%, Czech Republic +72%, Germany +63.6%, France +44.3%, Poland +36.7, the United Kingdom + 32.5%, Italy + 27.2%.
Exceptional growth in arrivals was recorded from the following countries: Saudi Arabia + 955.5%, Kuwait + 395.8%, Korea Republic + 192.8%, United Arab Emirates + 159.3%, China + 92.3%, Belarus + 56.9%.
According to the preliminary information of the National Tourism Administration, in January-April 2018 Georgia received approximately $800 million from tourism.
The income from tourism increased by 28%, or $117 million compared to the same period of 2017.
The total income received from tourism in 2017, according to the Tourism Administration, exceeded $2 billion. Compared to 2016, the sector's income grew by $585 million.
The share of tourism in the first quarter of 2018 is almost 7% of the total economy.
