Citizens of Georgia and Ukraine will travel
"Citizens of Georgia and Ukraine will travel back and forth only with their electronic identification cards (ID)" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia at the press briefing held before the Executive Government Meeting today.
In the opinion of the Head of the Government of Georgia, this initiative will facilitate the development of tourism and will also further deepen the economic cooperation between the two countries.
"It is essential for us to find and embrace new potential in tourism to fully absorb the geographic advantage of Georgia. Hence, we have decided on the grounds of mutual interaction with our friendly nation to enable our citizens to travel between Georgia and Ukraine only with their E-IDs. It is a very significant step made towards further strengthening and solidifying our bilateral relations. It will help us in the development of tourism, and the advancement of economic cooperation" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Head of the Government of Georgia noted that a similar approach to be applied to other countries is currently being considered. (PM’s Press Office)
Parliament’s first Vice-Speaker to attend the funeral ceremony of John McCain
Tamar Chugoshvili, the first Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, will attend the funeral ceremony of John McCain,- the Parliament of Georgia told InterPressNews.
Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze commented about the issue at a news conference held on Wednesday.
"John McCain is a historical person for our country. He was a loyal friend of our country, who has done so much and important things for our nation. Especially, in the hardest moment for our country, and the Georgian nation will never forget it. Today, I am going to the US embassy, and our political team members will leave for the United States, " Mamuka Bakhtadze said.
Late US Senator, John McCain, will be buried on September 2. (IPN)
Election campaign is officially starting in Georgia
The election campaign has officially begun on August 29. Consequently, the rules, standards, and restrictions will take effect for political parties, candidates, public officials, local self-government, governmental officials, and media.
Political parties and candidates shall have equal rights and liabilities in the pre-election campaign.
They have the right to prepare pre-election calls, statements, inscriptions, papers, photographs and more. It is forbidden to anyone to interfere in or hamper this process.
During the pre-election campaign, broadcasters are obliged to observe the principles of impartiality and fairness in public-political programs and during covering elections.
According to the election legislation, the broadcaster, who decides to cover the pre-election campaign, must broadcast pre-election debates with the observance of the principle of non-discrimination and ensure participation of all qualified election subjects.
Besides, the norms, envisaging free political advertisements for the entities participating in the elections, will take effect from September 8. (Interpressnews)
