Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze says that from the next year Georgian maritime business will be offered tax benefits, which means that they will perform in nearly a zero percent tax regime.
The PM announced at Georgia International Maritime Forum in Batumi on Thursday that those companies which provide services to maritime businesses will also enjoy the same benefits.
Bakhtadze also said that maritime business will have an excess to unique electronic services and they will be able to hire staff in a comfortable environment.
“Georgian maritime legislation will be in full line with international standards,” Bakhtadze stated.
He said that “large-scale initiatives” offered by the Georgian government will help the country fully use its transit potential.
“Georgia has an opportunity to become a regional hub for transport, logistic, tourism, financial and other directions and for this, the Georgian government is implementing major projects. Georgia is a gateway to the sea for eight countries, and we must use the beneficial location completely,” Bakhtadze said.
He said that transport development, sea-transport among them, is one of the key preconditions for the state economic development.
The port town of Batumi hosted the Georgia International Maritime Forum (GIMF 2018) on 12th-13th September 2018.
Representatives of 53 countries discussed the critical need of ensuring healthy oceans, the development of a sustainable blue economy, the role of major partnerships and international collaborations and action required for the attainment of these goals.
Two major projects, such as the construction of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port in Georgia and the development of a small cruise industry on the Black Sea were part of the discussions within GIMF 2018.
