Police confirm some non-narcotic drugs were seized from persons detained in Tbilisi nightclubs
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has commented about the report, released by the lawyers of Viktor Zhamutashvili and Kate Murusidze, who were detained during a special operation in “Basiani” and “Gallery” nightclubs in May 2018 in Tbilisi.
According to the Internal Affairs Ministry, out of 5 control purchases from one of the defendants, Kate Murusidze, non-narcotic drugs were bought in 3 cases. The Ministry explains that 2 control purchases were implemented by another defendant – Lasha Mamulashvili and non-narcotic drugs appeared in one case. As for Viktor Zhamutashvili, two control purchases were implemented from him and it appeared that he was selling the narcotic drug MDMA in both cases.
The lawyers of Viktor Zhamutashvili and Kate Murusidze, who were detained during a special operation in “Basiani” and “Gallery” nightclubs in Tbilisi, claim it was confirmed that several defendants were selling Citramon and Paracetamol, medicines used to treat pain and fever, and not narcotic drugs. Senior fellow of German Marshall Fund: Georgian democratic reforms will lead to NATO membership
Jonathan Katz, a senior fellow with the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) stated in Washington D.C. yesterday that the democratic reforms which are being carried out in Georgia will lead to “very significant outcomes.”
Georgia will definitely become the member of NATO,” he stated during the discussion “Keeping Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic Future on Track. “
Katz spoke about Georgia’s importance for the United States and said that high-level bilateral visits between Georgia and the US prove the US firm support for Georgia.
Katz stated that Georgia is facing serious security challenges from Russia and despite this Georgia has managed to take genuine steps for the Euro-Atlantic integration. (Agenda.ge)
