EU Ambassador to Georgia on pre-election programs

Carl Hartzell, Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia commented on the presidential candidates and the pre-election programs.

He noted that it’s strange that the presidential candidates do not focus on pre-election programs.

“During first two weeks of my presence in Georgia, nobody was talking about the elections, while I thought that all would talk about it. People say that these elections are not of great importance and therefore no one is doing anything, but then everything changed. This was the second wave and instantly all the stakes have increased,” Carl Hartzell said.

He also mentioned that no one speaks about the constitutional power of the president, which is quite reduced.

The ambassador has met several presidential candidates with various different opinions, however, the candidates do not focus on their opinion throughout the campaign.
