Giorgi Chogovadze appointed as Director General of Airports Association
As stated by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Giorgi Chogovadze has been appointed as the Director General of Georgia Airports Association by the supervisory board.
Chogovadze had held the position of the Head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration since 2014.
The Ministry noted that Chogovadze has experience in the civil aviation sector: in 1998-2004 he served on "responsible positions" in the airlines operating on the Georgian air market.
The Mission of the Georgia Airports Association, or GAA, is "to provide, develop, and expand a safe and efficient airports system to meet the future economic growth of Georgia through the full implementation of the State Aviation System Plan (SASP)." The SASP recognizes that airports are an indispensable component of the state's total transportation system that strongly supports the state's economy.
PM to be in charge of Youth Affairs of Ministry of Education
Youth affairs of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia and will be subject to the Prime Minister's Office.
Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated that youth affairs are the priority for him.
“Along with education, culture and politics, youth and innovative policy, youth economics, youth participation in the society, have always been our priority. Consequently, we have made a decision and the youth component will be sent from the Ministry of Education to the Prime Minister. This again emphasizes the significance of the issue,” stated Bakhtadze.
The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia was a governmental agency within the Cabinet of Georgia in charge of regulating activities related to sports and youth development in Georgia. In December 2017 the ministry was merged with that of Culture to form the Ministry of Culture and Sport.
