Ambulance car accident in Tbilisi
An ambulance car crashed into the works placed on the pavement in Tbilisi.
One individual was killed and 12 others were injured in the car accident on Chavchavadze Avenue.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that the investigation is underway under Article 276 - provision V of the Criminal Code of Georgia, involving violations of traffic safety rules or rules for operating transports by persons driving them that cause death.
Two of the injured have trauma in their heads and are being treated at the moment.
Deputy Director of Gudushauri Clinic, Marina Gelantia noted that three people were placed in Gudushauri Clinic.
Tbilisi Emergency Medical Center expressed its sorrow over the tragic accident on Chavchavadze Avenue and expresses condolences to the family of the victims.
“In the moment of the accident, there was a patient in the ambulance car. The patient was not injured and was transferred to the destination.
“One person was killed and 12 people were injured, including 2 doctors of the emergency medical center. All of them have been provided with appropriate medical assistance,” reads the statement of the Emergency Medical Center.
Fines to be imposed for smoking in public indoor places in Georgia
The law on tobacco control envisages fines: any individual smoking in public indoor places in Georgia will now be fined, reports the Tobacco Control Alliance.
Moreover, public spaces such as bars, restaurants and offices will be fined for placing ashtrays in public places as well.
The fine for violating the law and smoking in public spaces for individuals will amount to 100 GEL, however, the repeated action will be fined 200 GEL.
If the establishment does not ban smoking, they will be charged 500 GEL.
On May 1, 2018, smoking in public places was officially banned in Georgia, with only a few places where smoking is permitted. Georgia's Parliament passed the relevant amendments to the Law on Tobacco Control on 17 May 2017.
