President of EBRD met Georgian PM
Sir Suma Chakrabarti, President of EBRD held a meeting with Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia.
"Georgia remains to be one of the role models for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development" stated Chakrabarti.
He also noted that Georgia is advancing in the right direction and many partners are interested in sharing its experience. Sir Suma expressed his gratitude to the Head of Government of Georgia for facilitating the operation of the Investors Council.
Parties discussed the opportunity of an Economic Forum of Eastern Partnership Countries to be organized by the EBRD in Georgia.
The significance of the right development of the energy sector in the sustainable development and energy security of the country was underlined.
The EBRD's Board of Governors re-elected Sir Suma as President of the Bank for a second four-year term in 2016. He began his first term in 2012, having replaced Thomas Mirow.
Georgia’s civil protection and emergency response authorities discussed PPRD East 2 activities
Emergency response and civil protection authorities and experts gathered on March 6-7 in capital of Georgia, Tbilisi to discuss the results of the EU-funded “Program for Prevention, Preparedness and Response to Natural and Man-made Disasters in the Eastern Partnership Countries” (PPRD East 2), the second phase of which will conclude in May 2019.
The event has been organized in cooperation with the Emergency Management Service of Georgia.
National follow-up activities, in order to ensure the sustainability of its results and the networks that have been created were also discussed throughout the meeting.
The PPRD East Program is the EU-funded Flagship Initiative for increasing disaster risk management capacities of Eastern Partnership societies and improving protection of populations from the negative consequences of natural and man-made disasters in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
It is approaching the conclusion of its second phase. The PPRD East 2 Program is to finish its implementation in May 2019.
