Gogolati village in Ambrolauri municipality acquires national category status
Gogolati Village of Ambrolauri Municipality has been granted a status of national monument of historical and cultural heritage. It was announced by Mamuka Bakhtadze, the Prime Minister of Georgia, when meeting the local community on June 2.
Wide-scale rehabilitation works will be carried out in the village so that it maintains its original image in line with the applicable Government Resolution.
"It is our duty that this unique culture, traditions, architecture is preserved not only for the future generations but to ensure its longevity in the centuries to come,” said the PM.
The Ministry of Education launched an investigation into the case of children singing wearing red scarves
The Ministry of Education launched an investigation over a video that depicts children in the Ozurgeti municipality school singing while wearing red scarves.
The Chairperson of Education Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, Mariam Jashi, rejects the claims that the video shows systemic problems. According to her, if the contents of the video are confirmed, changes in the school personnel will be made.
The video in which schoolchildren sing and wear red scarves was spread through social media. The song also mentioned Joseph Stalin.
The red scarf was a neckerchief worn by Young Pioneers in the Soviet Union and, to this day, in Georgia, is denounced as one of the best-known symbols of the communist era.
Kobakhidze attends the EaP Conference of Baltic Assembly in Vilnius
The Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, attended the EaP Conference of Baltic Assembly in Vilnius.
At the conference, Kobakhidze underlined that Georgia remains committed to contributing to the success of the Eastern Partnership, including through the effective implementation of the milestones of 20 Deliverables for 2020.
“While we are trying to consolidate democracy and modernize our country, external pressures use every possible way to derail our state from its European integration track. In this regard, we count on strong and vocal EU’s political support against such pressures,” said Kobakhidze.
