The 5th edition of the Tbilisi Contemporary Dance & Experimental Art Festival will take place on June 9th and 10th at KHIDI.
The first performance - BODY-PLACE-IMAGE by New York-based choreographer and Georgian performers is a fusion of expressive potentialities of breath, touch, flow, and gravity in a movement that processes and structures focusing on relationship to the self, to each other and to the unique environment of the KHIDI Contemporary Art Space.
“BODY-PLACE-IMAGE/Tbilisi, GEORGIA is an exploration of the mysteries and expressivity of the human body.
Led by New York-based choreographer, Nancy Allison, ten performers from Georgian contemporary, traditional and social dance, as well as theater and music, come together for ten intensive days of research, sharing and creative forming,” reads the description of the event.
Nancy Allison is a New York-based performer, choreographer, filmmaker, book editor, and educator. She has danced in ballet companies, theater productions and on the concert stage.
Her choreography has been presented by the Athens Festival in Greece, House of Composers in Russia and Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors Festival among others.
Ten performers from Georgia feature Lily Baratashvili, Nika Chikvatia, Zuka Burkaia, Tamara Chakvetadze, Natia Chickvadze, Levan Gelbakhiani, Nini Gogichaishvili, Ana Kurtubadze, Michela Lorenzano, Nino Namicheishvili and Medea Nemsadze.
Sound Design and Musical Score is presented by Nika Japaridze.
The concept and direction of the performance were developed by Allison, while choreography is offered by Nancy Allison and Laura Boato in collaboration with the performers.

It is worth mentioning that the creation of BODY-PLACE-IMAGE/Tbilisi/GEORGIA has been supported, in part, by Levan Mikeladze Foundation. Also, it is financed by LEPL Creative Georgia, TBC Bank, and Tbilisi City Hall.
