Minister of Economy meets business leader women

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Natia Turnava, met with the members of the business leaders’ federation – Women for Tomorrow. Along with Turnava, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Ekaterine Mikabadze, Head of National Tourism Administration, Mariam Kvrivishvili and Deputy CEO at Enterprise Georgia, Tornike Zirakishvili also had the opportunity to answer the questions of members of the organization.
During the meeting, attendees focused on the newest priorities of the Ministry of Economy, ongoing and future reforms and programs of assisting business.
Participants of the meeting were especially interested in the proactive investment policy of the Ministry, which encompasses service for investors with the “one-window” principle. They also focused on the project of Business House, which implies virtual delivery of state services to business.
After the presentation on the Ministry’s work, Turnava answered questions from the members of the audience.
Turnava talked about the importance of business companies like “Women for Tomorrow,” where female owners of companies, as well as the senior managers and representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises, are united. As she said, strengthening communication with them is very important.
“Women represent one of the main forces for developing Georgian economy. Today we talked about many topics, including challenges that the business stands against. We also talked about new initiatives, like what we plan to do to make finances more accessible, to support local Georgian production. We plan to have meetings like this in the future as well,” noted the Minister of Economy.
The main purpose and theme of the meeting were to review the prospects for the development of women businesspersons.
The mission of Women for Tomorrow is to establish equity, non-violence, and active society in Georgia. To achieve this aim, they support increasing of women’s role in the decision-making process.
According to the Women for Tomorrow, they strive to strengthen the role of women in the process of economic development by creating an empowering network of women business leaders and employing the synergy of the collaboration of its members.
Natia Turnava, also a member of Women for Tomorrow board, was appointed as the Minister of Economy and Sustainable development on April 18, 2019. Before that, she was working as the Deputy Minister in 2018-2019.
