Signatures against LGBTQ+ community in Zugdidi

An initiative group started collecting signatures in the yard of Zugdidi Cathedral, demanding the prohibition of homosexual propaganda for "united and moral Georgia."

Guram Palavandishvili, head of the initiative group, said that other than the prohibition of propaganda of homosexuality, they are demanding to change the anti-discrimination law - in particular, removing the terms "gender identity" and "sexual orientation" from the law.

Businessman Levan Vasadze joined the event and said that shares the views of the activists and also noted that he had already signed the petition back in Tbilisi.



Ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili refuses to take part in Ukraine’s elections

The former president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili refused to take part in Ukraine's early elections and called on his supporters to vote for the President Volodymyr Zelensky’s party, Servant of the People.

According to Saakashvili, the Central Election Commission of Ukraine has long refused his party to take part in the elections. Many potential voters, therefore, did not know about his participation at all.

As Saakashvili said, the party would not be able to overcome a five percent barrier, and it would prevent them from implementing their goals.



Nika Melia announces establishment of a new TV channel

Nika Melia, one of the leaders of the United National Movement, wrote on Social Media that he plans to establish “a new and powerful TV channel.”

As he says, “what Ivanishvili has done to himself is something that even an enemy with the political intrigues could not have done to him.” According to him, Rustavi 2 was the guarantee of peace in the country.

On July 18, the European Court of Human Rights annulled the suspension of enforcement of the decision of the Supreme Court of Georgia.
