Honey Festival held in Batumi

Honey Festival was held in Batumi on August 10; the festival aimed to popularize Adjara as a leading region in the field of beekeeping, as well as to promote the development of the field.

More than 40 beekeepers from different regions of Georgia participated in the festival. The visitors had the opportunity to taste different honey products and buy them at the site.

Batumi hosted the festival for the fifth time. It was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of Ajara. Tornike Rizhvadze, Chairman of Adjara Government, attended the event.



Cleaning works of Kaparcha River launched in Poti

The Construction Company “Inshaat Georgia” started cleaning works of the Kaparcha River in Poti, Samegrelo region.

The project envisages cleaning of 3 700-meter-long lines and restoration of a hydrodynamic regime of the Paliastomi Lake.

Poti City Hall says that the project will also contribute to the infrastructure development on the nearby territory.



One person detained for producing and selling fake driving license

Officers of Investigation Service of Georgian Finance Ministry, through operative investigation activities, detained one person in Adjara region on the fact of producing and selling a fake driving license.

An investigation determined that the charged person made and sold the fake driving license at USD 150. Two other fake documents and the necessary technical equipment are confiscated. The detained person faces up to 3 years in prison.

Russian police detain more than 70 over opposition protests

Russian police detained 72 people on Saturday after the opposition protests in several cities, the OVD-Info protest monitor said on social media. The main demand of the protesters is a free and fair elections.

As reported by Reuters, 55 people had been detained in St Petersburg, 10 in Moscow and seven in Roston-on-Don.
