Russia's blast has not affected radiation level in Georgia

Agency of Nuclear and Radiation Safety says the blast in Russia has had no impact on Georgia.

As Vasil Gedevanishvili, Head the Agency explained, this is confirmed by the monitoring stations in Georgia and the data of international partners.

Georgia is a member country of the International Atomic Energy Agency. Gedevanishvili said they had been communicating with the agency and they had not confirmed the increase in radiation.

Also, Gedevanishvili explains that Georgia is 3 000 kilometers away from the location of the blast and the danger is not acute. According to him, there was a slight increase in the level of iodine in Norway and this information has alarmed the public, though there have been similar incidents in the country so far and are not related to the incident.

An explosion at a Russian military site in the White Sea is shrouded in mystery. Russia's Rosatom nuclear agency said five of its staff were killed in the August 8 blast at a naval facility that tests ballistic missiles used by nuclear submarines. Firefighters needed more than 16 hours to put out the fire.

Russian helicopter violating Georgian airspace

A Russian aircraft flew into the occupied territory near the village of Gugutiantkari.

The violation of Georgian airspace has been confirmed by the State Security Service.

The hotline has been activated and the EUMM has been informed.

"This is another provocative act that is extremely threatening the security environment on the ground," the State Security Service said.

The Russian occupation forces have returned to the village of Gugutiantkari in Gori Municipality and continue to erect a so-called border on August 7.

Former US diplomat on Anaklia Port Development

Former US diplomat Matthew Bryza comment on Anaklia Port development, noting that the port will provide vital assistance to Georgia in case of serious tensions in the country.

“Strategically for Georgia, the Anaklia Port is a game-changer. It provides Georgia, for the first time I might add, direct access to large-scale shipping from around the world,” he said.

He also highlighted the fact that Anaklia will weaken Russia's economic influence and Georgia's ability to control, I think this is what Russia is most afraid of.
