State Inspector meets with Minister of Justice regarding launch of investigation mechanism
State Inspector Londa Toloraia met with the Minister of Justice Tea Tsulukiani. The parties discussed the importance of an independent investigative mechanism and the need for effective cooperation in the process.
The State Inspector also informed the Minister of Justice about the progress of enforcement of the Law on State Inspectorate Service and the steps taken to enforce the investigation direction of the Service.
Londa Toloraia said that the service was ready to start its investigation on November 1st.
The Minister of Justice of Georgia expressed her full support and wished her success in his future work.
An investigative function will be launched at the State Inspectorate from November 1st, 2019. The Service will investigate individual crimes committed by a law enforcement official, official or an equivalent person.

The sixth stage of the Grand Prix among juniors took place in the Croatian capital Zagreb. Maria Kazakova and Giorgi Revia captured the audience’s attention with excellent performance. Better result than Canada and Russia - they took first place.
In the short and free program, Revia and Kazakova performed brilliantly, they had the best result of the season. They scored 169.22 points in total and won gold medals.
With this victory, the Georgian couple gained the right to compete in the grand final. The final stage will be held on December 5-9 in Turin, Italy.
It should be mentioned that Maria Kazakova and George Revia won gold medals for the first time in their careers.
Georgia's youth representative to UN Esma Gumberidze delivers speech at UNGA
Esma Gumberidze, the Youth Representative of Georgia to the UN, delivered a speech on October 2nd, 2019, on the 25th issue of the Third Committee's agenda on "Social Development" within the 74th session of the UN General Assembly.
According to Esma, her main focus was to truly represent the reality in Georgia. That is why, in spite of the desire, instead of the global challenges facing the modern world she dedicated her whole 5 minutes to the problematic issues of the Georgian reality.
“We have many problems - the difficult reality of young people living in the occupied territories, the social challenges in the state. Many problems need to be addressed. At the same time, you want to talk about new visions, modern global challenges. Greta, 16, talks about climate change, and with us, a 16-year-old child dies while working on construction,” said Gumberidze.
In her speech, Gumberidze spoke about the need to involve people with disabilities in all aspects of social, political, economic and cultural life.
She said it is important to identify such people and barriers and, first of all, to hear their voices.
The Georgian youth delegate also highlighted the difficulties that people with disabilities face in conflict-affected areas, precisely in the Gali district of occupied Abkhazia by the Russian Federation.
In response to the Russian delegate, who referred to Abkhazia as a sovereign state and advised Georgia to engage in bilateral discussions to resolve existing humanitarian issues, Esma Gumberidze reminded her that the occupation of Georgia's Abkhazia and South Ossetia / Tskhinvali regions was recognized by various international organizations.
The Russian Federation exercises effective control over these territories and, accordingly, the responsibility for human rights violations on the occupied territories lies with Russia.
NATO Deputy Secretary-General meets with students of Western Georgia's universities
Deputy Secretary-General of NATO, Rose Geotmuller, met with students of Western Georgia Higher Education Institutions at Shota Rustaveli State University, on October 3rd.
"Georgia's engagement with NATO includes all practical and political tools for Georgia to become a NATO member when the window of opportunity opens," said Rose Geotmoller, who visited Georgia during the North Atlantic Council's visit. The NATO Deputy Secretary-General emphasized the positive dynamics of NATO-Georgia cooperation, the effective use of these tools and mechanisms, Georgia's contribution to international security, the strategic importance of the Black Sea Alliance and the strengthening of Georgia's defense capability.
During the meeting, the students had the opportunity to ask questions to the NATO representative. The event was moderated by former Deputy Defense Minister Mikheil Darchiashvili.
It should be noted that the event was organized by the Information Center on NATO and EU at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is the launch event of the Center's annual project - NATO Days 2019.
