Drivers of Schmax, founded by Girchi, are holding a rally
The drivers of "Schmax", founded by "Girchi", and the leaders of Girchi are holding a rally in Republic Square. As Zurab Japaridze, the leader of "Girchi" told reporters, "Schmax" is engaged in educational activities demanding a halt to the “hunting” of “Shmax”, abolishing all penalties imposed by police on October 1 and stopping a "taxi reform" that has "caused it all."
According to Zura Japaridze, they will move to the Ministry of Internal Affairs with these demands.
“There’s a change in the patrol’s behavior. Over the last week, only two tickets were written out. However, hunting continues. Five or seven times a day they stop each and every driver of Shmax. They ask lecturers and students some questions. These people do not understand that Schmax is an educational project. We are in three cities: Tbilisi, Rustavi and Kutaisi. We are in talks with an American company that will soon become the owner of the educational project "Shmax", said Japaridze.
According to Tamaz Koshadze, the driver of "Shmax", they are engaged in educational activities and people are only spending money on lectures and not for travel.
"We are protesting the illegal decisions of the patrol. We are teachers, lecturers. We explain to the student and talk about regulations. The patrol stops us, asking the student questions to try to arrest him and fining us with GEL 200. This is probably demanded from either the City Hall or the MIA. We have joined Schmax, we have a contract. Before a person becomes my student, I inform them about the Schmax instruction, which lists that he pays for the lecture and not the trip, "said driver Tamaz Koshadze.
