PM Gakharia on plans at government meeting

Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia talked about future plans of Georgia’s development at yesterday’s meeting of the government.
PM touched upon the steps taken by the government of Georgia towards attracting tourists in the country.
Prime Minister of Georgia reviewed certain complications faced in terms of water supply at the ski resorts of the country at the beginning of the year. Issues were experienced both in Gudauri and Bakuriani. According to the Head of Government of Georgia, causing reasons are already known. Prime Minister of Georgia stressed that more preventive work was required towards these issues.
“It should not have happened, especially when we know today with certainty what caused it. We understand that the problem is systemic. We also understand that relevant conclusions need to be drawn,” noted the PM.
PM Gakharia also talked about the current situation in the middle east and noted that the peace negotiations and active diplomacy have no alternatives, "as any tension in the wider region is a major problem for security and economic development.”
According to the Prime Minister, the Government of Georgia has been in contact with its international partners from the very first day and has been closely observing the development of events together with them.
According to the Head of Government of Georgia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to fully support each citizen of the country within the zone of tension to avoid the potential complications and this effort should be channeled through diplomatic representations, consulates, and embassies.
Talking about plans, PM Gakharia said that the salaries of full-time schoolteachers will raise to GEL1800.
As the Prime Minister pointed out, the government will pay significant attention to education in 2020, which should serve as a basis for boosting employment and eliminating the imbalances Georgia has to have in the labor market.
“According to the issue presented by the Ministry of Education, the hourly pay for professional education teachers will increase significantly and the average salary for full-time teachers will be around GEL 1,800,” noted Gakharia.
The Prime Minister also talked about the implementation of systemic reform of the education system and noted that the most important part of it is a component of secondary education.
The meeting was attended by the leaders of the government, ministers and deputy ministers.
