In one of the reports, the organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has praised the Georgian distant education system as one of the best in the world. The OECD emphasized the fact that the project TV school does not require internet access and is available for all.
In response to the OECD’s report, the Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia showed gratitude towards the Ministry of Education and announced that the model of Georgian online studying and TV school are the very projects that will help the Ministry overcome the challenge of losing the academic year.
The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli shares the PM’s opinion and thanks everyone who has made a positive contribution in the remote studying, especially the teachers who have expressed great enthusiasm and creativity while working on this extensively important project. Chkhenkeli believes that with the support of remote studying, this academic term will not be canceled.
Due to the pandemic, schools and universities are on hold since March 2nd, therefore, it is likely that the materials of the second term will be removed from exams. The tests will be concentrated on examining the general skills of an examinee and not the accuracy of the information on the specific work.
The deputy of the Minister of education, Ekaterine Dgebuadze, tells Interpressnews that depending on the situation, all the circumstances will be taken into consideration to defend children’s rights. She also states that neither the dates of the exam will be postponed, nor the format will be changed. Also, lowering the barrier of the exam is not discussed yet.
