Persons above 60 to be vaccinated with Pneumococcal Vaccination in Georgia
The Health Minister of Georgia Ekaterine Tikaradze stated that the government is currently working on the initiative according to which persons above the age of 60 and those suffering from chronic diseases are going to receive Pneumococcal vaccination.
According to Tikaradze, vaccinating the elderly and persons with chronic diseases is an approved practice in the EU countries. She also noted that the above-mentioned vaccination might be obligatory.
"Every day we take care of the vulnerable groups of the elderly and carriers of chronic diseases. Our specialists analyzed the cause of death and the main diseases. Here we have clearly seen that it is in these vulnerable groups that pneumonia is abundantly developed. As a result of communication with our European colleagues and also following the example of the developed countries, we have received some recommendations, which we plan to implement in Georgia,” said Tikaradze.
The Health Minister also told the media that they have specific numbers and lists of names for the preparation of an obligatory vaccination.
16 employees of the National Bank infected with Coronavirus
According to the National Bank’s website, the number of employees of the National Bank infected with coronavirus is 16.
The statement reads that the employees who had contact with infected colleagues are in complete isolation and are being monitored. The patients are being treated at the Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Tbilisi and their health condition is stable.
“Currently, 90% of the employees work remotely. Regular disinfection and cleaning works are being carried out in all the buildings of the National Bank and the offices of the bank have been transferred to the emergency mode of operation. Nevertheless, the National Bank fulfills its tasks perfectly and without interruptions: the banks are provided with the appropriate amount of money, the financial sector continues to function properly,” reads the statement.
There are 188 confirmed Coronavirus cases in Georgia, 39 people have recovered and 2 people died. 5,056 people are being kept under quarantine.
