Covid-19 spreads in several regions of Georgia, experts urge to not panic

15 new cases of the Covid-19 pandemic were reported in Georgia yesterday. Out of the 15, 4 cases are in Adjara. Out of these, 2 are in connection with the Kobuleti cluster.
“We have four new cases of the Coronavirus in Adjara, out of which, 2 have been in contact with Kobuleti cases. 23 people continue to be treated in the clinic as of today, and out of the Kobuleti cluster, 54 people have been quarantined, we have tested more people and the results will be known soon,” said the representatives of the Adjara Health Ministry.
According to the director of the National Center for Disease Control, Amiran Gamkrelidze, there are 3 points of interest in the country today, namely Mestia, Kazbegi and Kobuleti municipalities, where intensive epidemiological measures are being taken.
As Gamkrelidze said, the situation in the country is very much under control, as he said, in the Mestia municipality, where a total of 3367 PCR tests were taken. In addition, 1009 other tests were taken outside of Mestia, because those who have visited Mestia in the recent days have addressed laboratories. In total, there are 47 confirmed cases in connection to Mestia.
The second region that Gamkrelidze said requires attention is the Kazbegi municipality. 14 new cases were reported there, with 4 of them being border police officers. A total of 377 PCR tests were taken in the region as of today.
Gamkrelidze also talked about the situation in Kobuleti, where 3 new cases were reported. All three cases were reported from a cafe Havana in Kobuleti.
According to Gamkrelidze, all cases of Coronavirus infection are manageable as there are no clinically severe cases. According to the official information, there have been a total of 1336 Covid-19 cases reported in Georgia. Out of this, 1088 have already recovered and 17 have died.
Worldwide, up to 300,000 cases of Coronavirus infection have been reported in the last 24 hours, a record number since the pandemic began. According to official information, there are currently more than 21,617,000 cases of the virus around the world.
The number of people who died from the virus reached 770,000. More than 14 million people have completely recovered. Most cases of Coronavirus are reported in the United States, Brazil, India, Russia, and South Africa.
