Additional Pfizer doses arrive in Georgia as the number of confirmed cases increase

A total of 5850 cases of Covid-19 were reported over the weekend. Out of this, 2654 were reported on Sunday, and 3196 on Saturday. On Sunday, 33 people died because of Covid-19, 27 on Saturday.
As of August 1, a total of 495,381 doses of Covid-19 vaccines were administered. 161,069 people have received both doses of the vaccine. In total, 5853 people have died because of Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic. As for the total reported cases, it is at 422,188 cases as of Sunday.
On Saturday, July 31, Georgia has received additional 162,630 doses of the Covid-19 Pfizer vaccine. The Minister of Health of Georgia, Ekaterine Tikaradze said that the immunization process in the country would fasten as a vaccination center will be built in the Tbilisi Medical University building.
The Deputy Minister of Health, Tamar Gabunia, also talked about the vaccination process in the country, saying that the Ministry of Health will make additional statements regarding the vaccination process on August 2-3.
The ministry is planning to come up with a special virtual cabinet in the vaccination centers, where people will be able to go and register for the vaccine. One of the discomforts that the Ministry is discussing for this type of vaccination procedure is long lines, because of which, the ministry is calling on people to call the vaccination centers before going there.
The Deputy Minister also discussed the additional vaccination center which was established in Medical University. According to her, there will be a special space created for teachers, who will be able to receive vaccines without registration. The Deputy Minister also said that the country has enough vaccines and there are new vaccination centers and places added every single day in Tbilisi as well as other parts of the country.
Georgia has received 500,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine from the US government as a gift on July 24. In addition, Georgia has also bought 1 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine directly from the company.
Out of the one million doses, the country has already received 28,000 on July 15, and 162,630 on July 31. The representatives of the Health Ministry are saying that the 1 million doses should arrive in the country before October.
There are numerous vaccination centers where people can get Pfizer jabs. At first, it was only available in 7 hospitals. The number of vaccination centers is increasing very fast in the country.
