Session of Economic Council was held in government administration

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, a session of the Economic Council was held in the government administration.

Council members discussed the positive trends in the country in terms of economy. The positive impact of double-digit economic growth on the development of the country's economy was emphasized.

It was noted that maintaining high economic growth is a priority of the Georgian government and all relevant agencies are actively working in this direction.

At the meeting, they also discussed issues of cooperation with European and Asian countries in the direction of energy security. Current and planned energy projects in the country were discussed at the session of the Economic Council.

The conversation also touched on the main directions of the 2023 budget.

The Prime Minister noted that the double-digit economic growth achieved in 2022 allowed the government to increase funding in many directions and reduce the budget deficit and government debt.



Parliament starts considering draft law on 'de-oligarchization'

The Parliament starts considering the draft law on de-oligarchization. The draft law initiated by the ruling team will be discussed in the legal affairs committee. The hearing will be held in the first reading.

The project was developed on the example of Ukrainian law with similar content and essentially repeats the norms of Ukrainian law.

Oligarchs will be included in a special register according to the bill. The rules related to the register, including the rules for its creation and production, will be approved by the Parliament. The creation and production of the register is ensured by the Parliament's office.

According to the bill, a person known as an oligarch, whose data will be entered into the relevant register, will be restricted from certain financial activities.
