Vice Prime Minister Levan Davitashvili Engages in Ministerial Meeting on Green Energy in Budapest

Levan Davitashvili, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development participated in the ministerial meeting on green energy in Budapest.
Representatives from the governments of Georgia, Hungary, Romania, Azerbaijan, and Bulgaria gathered in the capital of Hungary to discuss current issues within the framework of the ministerial.
Davitashvili began his speech by highlighting the success of Georgia'' European integration process. He noted a significant milestone, emphasizing that the European Commission had made a positive decision and recommended granting Georgia the status of a candidate for EU membership.
According to the Vice Prime Minister, this marks a historic event for Georgia on its path toward European integration. He expressed confidence that by participating in such projects and collaborating with partners, the country's integration into the European Union will be further accelerated.
In his speech, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development emphasized the importance of the partnership among the countries participating in the agreement. He expressed gratitude to all parties for their involvement in the process, the goal of which is to connect the South Caucasus with the European Union. The Vice Prime Minister underscored the significance of economic integration, including energy integration, with the European Union for Georgia. He informed the participants of the ministerial session about the current situation in Georgia's energy sector, highlighting the country's abundance of hydro resources. Levan Davitashvili noted that the government is actively working towards their utilization.
"Our goal is to export electricity to the EU market while actively developing renewable energy projects. Additionally, we aim to support the construction of small and medium-sized hydroelectric power plants through various measures. We have initiated the 'Price Difference Mechanism' to enhance the stability of the energy sector," stated the Vice Prime Minister.
In his speech, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development emphasized the significance of the Black Sea Submarine Cable project in advancing regional energy security, sustainable development, and cooperation. According to him, this project stands out as the most important initiative aligned with the common goals of the participating countries in the ministry.
"This ambitious initiative serves the idea of becoming a crucial link in the chain of sustainable energy transmission, fostering connectivity and cooperation between our countries. The Black Sea submarine cable project represents a significant stride toward enhancing energy security and promoting environmental sustainability," said the Vice Prime Minister of Georgia.
